Just for fun take 2

These were taken from an old collection of mine. They are for comic relief and do not necessarily reflect my opinions. hehe.

Nicknames..hu? what?

These were just some cool photos I made up after the three amigos (joe, jim, and kolby) got back from san fran. During our trip, some nick names developed for the three of us that have kind of stuck since then, so take a look at the pics to see our aliases.

Steve's Corner

Once and a while you may see something on this blog called "Steve's Corner." What is Steve's Corner? Well it's a place where you can find advice about electronics, gaming, or most any topic from Steve himself. Today Steve addresses two questions:

With the switch to digital television already past, what will happen to my current television?

There are so many choices for gaming these days. Which gaming system best suits me?

PBL Competitions

A few months ago, I went and competed in a few events in Ogden for the FBLA-PBL competition. I later went on to compete in the national competition. Along the way, I got free trips to places I had never been and had some fun.

Hit the read link for a more detailed description of what went on and some cool pictures and videos.

In the state competition, I placed 1st in web site development, 2nd in computer applications, 3rd in word processing, and 4th in some other computer category (I don't remember now).

I qualified to compete in 2 events at the national competition and won first place in web site development! It was a fun trip because it was in Anaheim and I got to see Disneyland for the first time! (While someone else picked up the bill!)

The state competition was a fun trip as well. Among other things, we visited the mall in Ogden and Spencer and I tried the "Flowrider" If you want to see us in action, here are the youtube links:

A St. George Sunset

The other day I looked outside my window about 8:30pm and I saw a beautiful sunset! So I grabbed my camera and quickly drove up the hill by my house to see if I could capture it! The final pictures look kinda neat, but these ones I have posted here are just the small resolution pictures. (At least you still get a look at them right?)

Just for fun

Well, I was bored so I decided to play around with a few pictures. I think they are pretty funny so take a look:

So what do you think? Are these even funny at all? haha, Probably not. Only to me they are funny. Of course, almost anything is funny after you've been stuck at work for over six hours.

Fishing in Panguitch

"Give a man a fish and you can feed him for a day -- teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for the weekend!"

So, my dad and mike and I decided to tap into our "nothing box" (you have to see the youtube video here) and go fishing.

Anyway, we left early and got up to the lake. As we drove up to the marina, we were getting excited because the lake was like crystal and we figured it would be a great day for fishing!

Of course, the fishing gods saw that the Nielsen's had made it to the lake, so they decided to kick up the wind. After wondering if we would even get a boat (there were none in the marina) we eventually made it out onto the lake.

It was the worst fishing day of our lives. We fished for about 5 hours and none of us even got a single bite! Not a single bite!!

But as they say, a bad day fishing beats a good day at work.

We still enjoyed just being outdoors and eating our snacks (fudge-dipped granola bars, string cheese, pringles, dried apples, etc) So it was still a fun trip.

The Narrows Hike - 4th of July

What is quickly becoming a family tradition took place this past weekend (4th of July): the family of Nielsens in St. George all went to Zion National Park to hike the narrows.

It was a fun trip. There had been a storm which caused the virgin river to turn be dirty and brown and full of mud, but we went anyway. After uncle Logan talked our bus driver into re-opening the narrows (long story) we started our early morning adventure and had a lot of fun!

Here are some pictures (some edited) of our trip:
