I've done both.

I saw clash of the titans. I bought an iPad. And I couldn't help but think, since they were released on the same weekend, of the relation between the two in popular culture.

So, let Steve Jobs sound it loud and clear, "RELEASE THE IPAD!"

PBL Tshirt

I was supposed to design a tshirt for my PBL club. I asked for suggestions and no one gave me any. So originally I was just going to put "PBL" on the tshirt. But then I had visions of various typographic styles for the letters "PBL" including the one shown below, a cheesy play on the old phrase, "What time is it?" PBL time baby.

My Soapbox

So today i am going to get up on my soapbox and introduce this design a little bit.

There is this saying going around which a lot of people love to quote. It goes like this, "Be the change you want to see in the world." For some reason, this quote never appealed to me. In fact, I feel disdain towards it. I'm not exactly sure why. I believe it has something to do with the liberality of its intimations. To help expound on my feelings I created this visual design to explain how I feel. You'll see Hitler and Stalin on there with symbolisms of their respective movements. Each of them were the change they wanted to see in the world. So you see? That phrase, though it can be inspiring, can also mean "Whatever it is that you want the world to be like, do it and change it." It has not connotations associated with it as to doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing.

Of course, I will admit that maybe I'm completely off base. You be the judge.

This is a poster I made. Took the picture and everything myself. Although, it was a pretty ghetto set-up. My sister lent me the tools you see in the picture and a white canvas to take the picture on. Everything else was made with photoshop.

Diogenes' Candor

This was a book cover that I had to make for a class. It was for a book called "Diogenes' Candor"

I figured such a book would obviously be aimed at a scholarly audience because if you know what candor is, good for you, and if you know who Diogenes was, even better for you (you should be a scholar).

So, I took all the synonyms and words which describe candor and used them to make CANDOR on the cover. Since, in essence, that is what the book is about. The author tries to describe all the qualities which gave Diogenes his candor. Then I just added some other styling attributes.
