A St. George Sunset

The other day I looked outside my window about 8:30pm and I saw a beautiful sunset! So I grabbed my camera and quickly drove up the hill by my house to see if I could capture it! The final pictures look kinda neat, but these ones I have posted here are just the small resolution pictures. (At least you still get a look at them right?)

Just for fun

Well, I was bored so I decided to play around with a few pictures. I think they are pretty funny so take a look:

So what do you think? Are these even funny at all? haha, Probably not. Only to me they are funny. Of course, almost anything is funny after you've been stuck at work for over six hours.

Fishing in Panguitch

"Give a man a fish and you can feed him for a day -- teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for the weekend!"

So, my dad and mike and I decided to tap into our "nothing box" (you have to see the youtube video here) and go fishing.

Anyway, we left early and got up to the lake. As we drove up to the marina, we were getting excited because the lake was like crystal and we figured it would be a great day for fishing!

Of course, the fishing gods saw that the Nielsen's had made it to the lake, so they decided to kick up the wind. After wondering if we would even get a boat (there were none in the marina) we eventually made it out onto the lake.

It was the worst fishing day of our lives. We fished for about 5 hours and none of us even got a single bite! Not a single bite!!

But as they say, a bad day fishing beats a good day at work.

We still enjoyed just being outdoors and eating our snacks (fudge-dipped granola bars, string cheese, pringles, dried apples, etc) So it was still a fun trip.

The Narrows Hike - 4th of July

What is quickly becoming a family tradition took place this past weekend (4th of July): the family of Nielsens in St. George all went to Zion National Park to hike the narrows.

It was a fun trip. There had been a storm which caused the virgin river to turn be dirty and brown and full of mud, but we went anyway. After uncle Logan talked our bus driver into re-opening the narrows (long story) we started our early morning adventure and had a lot of fun!

Here are some pictures (some edited) of our trip:

Golf Trip 2009

We went on our annual golf trip this week. This year it was just Joe, Furn, and me. Bish did not come as he had "other commitments." But we still had a blast!

Check out these pictures from the Golf Trip 2009 (edited for your viewing pleasure):

First we played Canyon Breeze golf course in Beaver, Utah. For those who don't know about the golf course in Beaver, their "signature" hole is number 7 which has the fairway placed right in the middle of local horse racing tracks. (Most people already losing enough money betting against each-other when playing golf, but add to it the fact that you can bet on the ponys WHILE you play golf, and that's a bad combination) But anyway, it was Red Neck to say the least.

We drove to Delta and played Sunset View golf course later that day (just 9 holes). A first-ever in golf trip history happened while we played there.....I lost to Joe! I have lost to Joe before, but never on the golf trip. So much for my un-tarnished record (I know, I am so humble haha) But it was all good, because after that we stopped by "the pizza house" which is a place where the locals go for great pizza (it's probably the only place they can go for pizze, Delta is pretty small)

We stayed the night at the Days Inn motel, which served a great complimentary breakfast where the orange juice tasted like toothpast to me, and to Joe it tasted like mouthwash. But we had a good swim in the pool the night before that was relaxing, until we got kicked out of the pool 15 minutes earlier than the normal closing time because the guy working wanted to go home early. So it was a great stay....

The next morning we played the other 9 holes in Delta then headed to Fillmore. I tried to get "redemption" in Fillmore for what happened to me there last year (long story...) and I did! Kind-of. I played a best-ball against Joe and Furn. After 9 holes I was beating them by quite a bit, and through like 14 holes I was up by 5 holes. So, to make it interesting, we changed the format on the back 9 to a scramble (Joe and Furn against me) and I lost on the last hole! I even birdied the last hole and I still lost, so big up to Joe and Furn for that win. I still feel redeemed. Bish on the other hand, well that's a different story. He'll have to live in his agony and shame of last year's performance for another year, plus next year he's being demoted for not coming this week. We love you Bish.
